'Unveiling the true potential and unique value of girls, through acceptance, care and love.'
Hannah Borg first developed the Cherished programme in 2011, in response to her own experiences of low self-esteem and the limited support available to vulnerable girls.
The Cherished course offers girls the opportunity to explore their identity and puts in place the foundation to make positive lifestyle choices.
87% of girls, aged 11-21, believe that women are judged for their looks rather than their ability. Cherished aims to nurture the self-esteem of schoolgirls in order to liberate them from outward pressures and believe in their own unique value.
We have seen girls transform their attitude and aspirations, becoming beacons of inspiration to others through the confidence gained on the Cherished course.
Girls’ confidence is in crisis.
Despite sexism and equality being a central debate in 2016, there is still enormous pressure being placed on young women to conform to unattainable ideals. In a society saturated with photoshopped images, stereotyped gender roles and false needs advertising, girls’ confidence is being constantly undermined. The true beauty of character is ignored.
